How to Choose the Best Radar Detectors

To make it easier for you to choose the right radar detector for your needs, below are some of the most important factors that you have to take into consideration:

1. Type of Radar Detector

One of the first things that need to be decided upon is which type of radar detector will be best for you. In this case, the following are the two options that you will have:

  • Corded Radar Detector: If you want affordability and optimal functionality, this is the best choice for you. However, one problem with this is that it attracts attention, both from the police and thieves.
  • Cordless Radar Detector: This is an ideal choice if you would like to prioritize portability. It is a breeze to install, and best of all, it can be easily transferred from one car to another. The drawback, however, is that they are usually more expensive than the corded ones.

2. Ease of Use

AD

You should also prioritize models with user-friendly features. For instance, you must be able to easily accomplish the installation. The manufacturer must provide step-by-step instructions on how to complete the assembly. More so, the controls should also be strategically positioned so that you can set up the unit in a snap.

3. Modes of Operation

A good choice for a radar detector is one that comes with multiple modes, which will offer a high level of reliability, regardless of where you will be driving. If you are driving in an urban area, the city mode will be appropriate. Otherwise, you must be able to set it to highway mode. Under the latter, it has higher sensitivity, which is because there are more speed radars on highways.

4. Detection Capabilities

Your radar detector will be useless if it has poor capabilities to detect speed radars on the way. With this, take a look at the range, which will be indicative of the distance of the radar that the detector will be able to detect. Also, make sure that it is able to detect radars at a 360-degree angle.

More so, look for a product that will be able to detect even those that do not emit signals, such as red-light cameras. This will be a good way to provide you with peace of mind, lessening the likelihood that you will be ticketed for a traffic violation.

5. Local Laws

Before you even buy a radar detector, keep in mind that there are some states or cities wherein the use of such a device is prohibited by law. Getting caught will be an offense to traffic violations. With this, it will be good to choose a low-profile radar detector, or at least, one that cannot be detected by the detectors that are used by police.

6. Built-in GPS

In recent years, many manufacturers are offering more innovative options, which is why they have integrated GPS in their radar detectors. With the latter, you will be able to enjoy a multifunctional device as it can also be useful for ground navigation. With the GPS, you will also be able to pinpoint the exact location of the radar.

7. Alerts and Notifications

It is also important to consider how you will be alerted once the unit is able to detect a speed detector. The best ones will notify you through audible and visual warnings. If there is a digital display, make sure that it stays clear and easy to read, even during a hot day. If there are audible alerts, on the other hand, see to it that it is loud enough to be easily heard.

8. Warranty

If you want the best bang for the buck and peace of mind, pick a radar detector that comes with extensive warranty coverage. This means that the manufacturer will have you covered within the warranty period, provided that the problem does not result from your negligence. In case of a defect, they will provide free repair and replacement of parts, if necessary.

These three products each help create a hydrophobic surface on your car. These waxes are Mothers Carnauba Wax, FW1 Cleaning Wax, and Shine Armor. They all worked over several weeks based on my testing, but you decide which is best.

As I tested the waxes, I found a clear winner for water-phobic action and grime or dirt resistance. The others also worked but were not as effective.

Below are the types of waxes I tested on my truck. Each has pros and cons, but the one that is right for you depends on your specific needs.

The Wax Results (After Three Weeks)

Looking at the picture you might want to choose a carnauba wax for its hydrophobic protective properties, but a ceramic coating and a cleaning wax both have their benefits, so it might depend on what goal you have in mind.

I applied all three waxes as directed, although I think getting a better result is certainly possible if I were to take a bit more time and effort for each product. These are the result after trying to follow the directions given on each product’s label.

Here are some things to consider when getting a wax or protectant.

  • Hydrophobic action: When water is repelled from the car’s surface it’s a good indication of protection. Why doesn’t the Shine Armors ceramic coating show the same hydrophobic action as the Mothers Wax? I believe that with the type of product I was using and my old truck (10+ years), it may have called for more applications than just one. The FW1 cleaning wax, on the other hand, is good at cleaning and I may not have applied it correctly or maybe it just doesn’t last as long as the others.
  • Most important quality: Each product has different qualities that are helpful. If you are considering which one is the most important for you, then that can help you decide which product will best meet your needs.
  • Ease of Application: Each product was fairly easy to apply, but the carnauba wax may take slightly more effort.
  • Scratch Resistance: While I haven’t tried it on my car, waxes are not meant to provide scratch resistance, but a ceramic coating product should provide some protection.
  • Price: The products that I review are all about the same price range.

You’ll likely find a whole range of combinations of different mixtures in waxes for your car. I like to do some research and find out what most people have had success with and buy those products if I think they will meet my needs.

Why Use Wax?

As you wax your car you’re making it easier the next time you wash your car. It helps protect the car from dirt, grime, and bird droppings. It will also make it easier to dry off.

Waxes don’t last forever but the time you take to wax your car will pay off in less time needed to wash your car. I was very surprised at the ease with which I could clean my car. It was almost as if I didn’t need any soap at all.

Waxes also help your car look shiny. Your car will look great and be better protected from wash to wash. They provide a protective layer so you won’t need to worry so much about scratching your car with dirt and grime the next time you wash it.

Do I Really need Wax?

No. But it’s a great insurance policy for great looks and better resell value for your car. If your set on not waxing your car, you can ask someone else to wax it for you for a price and you’ll keep your car protected and save time if you wash your car yourself.

Regular washing with a car wash soap will work well to clean and help your clear coat stay in good condition. But if you want extra protection and the benefits that only wax can provide, then these following car waxes can help you get the job done well.

Why I picked these Waxes

I wanted to try a traditional wax and compare it to other popular brands available on Amazon.com. I did some research into the other two waxes and found that they might actually be more user-friendly for my needs.

I found that they all did a fairly good job in different areas, I would actually probably only use one on a regular basis to protect the clear coat on my truck. Let’s see which one you prefer and later I will explain more about my choice.

1. Mothers California Gold Pure Brazilian Carnauba Wax Paste

AD

This wax was fairly easy to apply and I had great results. It uses pure carnauba wax with no cleaner in it. It provides great hydrophobic properties and protection.

It comes in a 12 oz. canister that you can apply to a freshly washed dry car with a microfiber towel. I found that it wasn’t too hard to apply if I kept dipping my towel back in the wax many times.

That being said it didn’t use too much wax from the canister and I suspect it will last at least a year if I wax my car once a month. The wax coat on your car should last about a month on your car depending on conditions. I found that mine was still working very well after over 3 weeks on my car.

It claims to be heat resistant and non-abrasive and I agree that this is true.

Pros:

  • Fairly easy to use, although some felt it was slightly difficult.
  • It will last a long time in storage when sealed and cool.
  • It is pure wax with no cleaning agents.
  • It has great hydrophobic action.

Cons:

  • Need to use a damp microfiber towel when applying.
  • Difficult to remove if you let it set too long after applying.

2. FW1 Wash and Wax

AD

This wax is different than pure carnauba wax because it can be used for cleaning as well as waxing your vehicle. I found that with a little repeated effort stubborn stuck-on particles were able to loosen and eventually be removed using this wax.

It was fairly easy to apply and I found that applying it to a rag first was easier for me than applying it to the vehicles and then spreading around. After it dried it came off easily, although during my applications I didn’t wait very long, maybe 15 seconds.

When using this product for waxing my truck I was expecting it to work better than it did. I may not have applied and wiped it off exactly as specified, but I think I came close. Its hydrophobic ability I felt was lacking somewhat as well as its ability to last over time. I found that it worked for about two weeks on my truck.

I like that it is easy to use and comes in a spray can. I like that I can use it to clean all parts of the exterior of the car. I haven’t used it on my windows except to spot test it, but I’ve heard that it works well on cleaning car windows too.

Pros:

  • Good for cleaning most car exterior parts.
  • Works as a wax coat.
  • Easy to apply, faster than traditional waxing.
  • Goes on dry, no damp cloth is needed.

Cons:

  • Not the best hydrophobic performance.
  • Doesn’t last as long as expected for a wax coat.
  • The pressurized spray can not last long.

3. Shine Armor Fortify Quick Coat

AD

This is not a wax but acts like one. It contains surfactants and a SiO2 ceramic-coating or quarts compound that can help clean all the exterior parts of your car and then protect your paint. It has an easy-to-use spray bottle that you can use with a damp cloth when applying to your vehicle.

I recommend washing your car first, even though it states it is a waterless wash because dirt particles could scratch your car. If your car is fairly clean with light dust, I imagine I would be fine using it on my truck.

The ceramic coating helps repel water and protect it from grime getting stuck on your car. I found that it works fairly well and has lasted about a month for me so far. Some people have had it last much longer.

Pros:

  • Has good hydrophobic action over time.
  • Easy to apply and use.
  • Can use it to clean your car as well.

Cons:

  • Need to use a damp microfiber towel when applying.
  • It has only 8 oz. so applying sparingly may be needed to make it last.

Which Wax is for You?

Now that there are different choices in how we can protect our cars, some people may choose a product that is not a traditional wax. I think all three products above are viable solutions for the different needs individual car owners have. I would probably choose the one that is the easiest to apply to works well, which for me was the ceramic spray coat.

I would also use the cleaning wax for stuck-on particles since it works well at removing them, and I would use the carnauba wax for creating a very hydrophobic and shiny car surface when I want my car to appear its best.

Any type of paint protectant coat that you buy, that you want to last a long time on the surface of your car will need a good deal of time to apply. While I think it’s worth it to invest the time and money into a protectant layer, I usually like to opt for an easier approach to helping my car look good and stay protected.

Here are some of the types of waxes and protectant wax-like products that are available to use on your car. Some products will work better than others over time. Doing some research will help you find a good solution for your needs.

  • Carnauba Wax: This is wax from the leaves of a palm tree. It provides a layer on top of your car’s paint that prevents grime from sticking to the car’s paint.
  • Wax Cleaner: Cleaning waxes have some type of cleaning agent that helps polish out rough particles left on the surface of your car left over after a wash. These cleaning agents are usually combined with carnauba wax so your car will have wax protection after application.
  • Ceramic Coating: This type of protectant coat offers a way to protect your car’s paint by using nano-technology. The tiny particles of ceramic, carborundum, or quartz can bind with the paint to provide hydrophobic action and chemical protection. Higher quality protection can last years but is pricey and application is fairly time-consuming.
  • Hybrid Wax: This type of wax usually combines ceramic or other polymer coating technology with carnauba wax. You can get long-lasting protection with a nice shine too.
  • Non-Wax Polish: These may be infused with urethane, a plastic that can protect your car’s coat for a long time. The benefit of these is they are easy to apply and usually last a long time. Another coating used by some products is Teflon. This is what some baking pans use to prevent scratching, so it can provide a thin protective layer on your paint.

When thinking about which wax is best for you, consider how much time and money you’re willing to spend and get the best product you can within that range. Usually, the best products will cost more, but give you a better value with your time and money in the long run.

Conclusion

Choosing the best wax for your car should reflect your values on what is most important to you. The three products I tried all have value and could each benefit different people. What characteristics are you looking for? This is what matters the most and will help you choose one wax over the others or help you see these waxes are not the ones for you.

As for me, I would like to continue using the Shine Armor in order to see how it performs with more than one coat and how long it will last on the car’s surface based on this product’s formula. The value that drives my decision is the ease of application and the hope that it will actually strengthen the car’s painted surface.

If you were to choose one of these products, which one would be best for you? I hope you are able to choose the best wax for your situation that will enable you to get the best results for your vehicle. Til next time, safe driving.

Save Gas Money By Driving Differently [10 Ways]

Save Gas Money

I used to drive on the freeway every day. It was an efficient way to get to work and it also saved me money on gas. If I took surface streets I would need to start and stop many times and burn more fuel.

To save money on gas you can do several things to drive differently. You can also save money by maintaining your car. How much gas you save may be significant over the course of many months.

When I drive long distances I try to maintain a consistent speed. I notice that I can reliably predict how much gas I will have at certain distances. Once you apply all the tips in this article you will better be able to reduce how much you pay for gas over time.

1. Go the Speed Limit to Save Gas

If you are driving on the freeway, consider going the speed limit even if other cars are going fast. The harder your engine works the more gas it will use.

Next time you are on a road trip remember that “reducing your speed by 5 to 10 mph can improve fuel economy by 7%–14%.” (afdc.energy.gov)

It is recommended that you travel at a constant speed. About 50 miles per hour is where fuel efficiency starts to drop, so a slower freeway speed can help. Making sharp acceleration will increase the amount of fuel that is consumed by your engine.

2. Use Cruise Control to Save Gas

Cruise Control

Over the years, manufacturers have developed innovative features to set their vehicles apart from the competition and improve fuel efficiency. One of these technologies is cruise control. The latter allows the car to run at a constant speed when you are on the highway and there is no more need for you to use the accelerator.

By controlling the speed of the vehicle, the car will be able to enjoy as much as 20% fuel savings.

The good thing about this feature is that it is not only money-saving, but it is also convenient as it makes driving a lot easier.

3. Servicing Car to Save Gas

Periodic maintenance is one of the most important things to keep the vehicle in its tip-top condition. A good thing to do is to consult with the owner manual and see the recommendations from the manufacturer on the things that should be replaced after a specified period of time.

Fixing an out-of-tune car can improve gas mileage by about 4%. Fixing other problems such as an oxygen sensor can improve mileage by as much as 40%. (exxon.com)

Tuning up your car, changing belts, and changing oil are some of the things that should be done within a specific timeframe. In most vehicles, experts recommend that the oil and oil filter should be changed after running for 4,500 miles. The air filter and plugs should also be replaced to avoid incurring high repair costs in the future.

4. Turn Off Air Conditioning to Save Gas

Turn Off Air Conditioning

The air conditioning is one of the power-hungry components that you have in your car, which makes it use more fuel. According to car experts, by turning off the air conditioning when you are driving, it is possible to save as much as 15% gas.

If you live in a place where it is cold, there is no problem in not using an AC. However, if it is hot, there are some things that can be done.

For instance, you should park it in a shaded and cool area. Opening your windows will also do the trick. However, open the windows when running below 55 miles per hour. Otherwise, it is no longer economical.

5. Map Out Your Route To Save Gas

I often use Google Maps to map out the fastest way to get to a location. Sometimes there’s a more direct route that is more fuel efficient but takes longer. Usually, taking traffic into consideration, the freeway is the most fuel efficient

If going somewhere new or where phone signals are not so great, doing a little planning can help you save lots of gas because you won’t get lost.

If I was lost while driving my truck which gets about 20 MPG and drove for 15 minutes or about 15 miles that might cost me around $3 if the gas prices were $4 per gallon.

Planning your route can seem like a small thing, but sadly, a lot of people miss out on this. Before you head out, think of all the things that you have to do for the day. If possible, make one trip out instead of lots of trips back and forth.

6. Avoid Wind and Rains to Save Fuel

When it is raining, it is a given fact that the road is slippery. This can be a significant safety issue for many, especially novice drivers.

More than your safety, however, driving in the rain should be avoided as much as possible as it can also help you to save gas.

When it is dry, the wind drag makes it harder for the car to move, making it consume more fuel. However, it becomes even worse on rainy days. The water resistance is the one to be blamed for this. Wet roads require extra effort for the tires, which makes them use more fuel.

7. Monitor your Tire Pressure

Monitor your Tire Pressure

It is important that you get the highest possible pressure for your tires. This will be instrumental in the improvement of rolling resistance and your gas mileage. Under-inflated tires by 0.1 ATM can make your car consume more fuel by as much as 2 to 3%.

It is not enough that you inflate the car just once. Keep on monitoring its pressure and reapply once it is necessary. This is especially important if you are in a place where it is often cold.

8. Remove Weight to Save Gas

Especially for people on the go, consider their car as their second home. Wouldn’t it be convenient if you have everything that you need in your car? However, added weight in your car will only make it use more gas as it runs.

Take a look at your car and remove anything that is unnecessary. Aside from the spare wheel and basic tools for emergency repairs, you do not have to bring your entire life with you on the road!

9. Keep an Eye on Gas Prices

gasbuddysearch

With a little effort, you can find the best prices on gas. I have used GasBuddy many times to find good gas prices near me. I usually use the phone but they also have a website.

There are several websites that you can use to help you save money on gas. Additionally, watch the news and see when the gas prices will go up to plan ahead.

Before that day comes, load a full tank so that you can save. In the long run, it can add up to some good savings.

10. Stay Alert to Save Gas

By being vigilant on the road, you are not only prioritizing your safety, but you are also able to save gas. It may seem commonsensical, but still, a lot of people often get distracted when they are driving.

If you slowly come to a stop and accelerate properly from stops you will be able to save gas. Popular Mechanics says that “taking 15 seconds to accelerate to 50 mph used less fuel than taking 30 seconds to reach the same speed.”

So, don’t take off fast but don’t go slow either when trying to reach the cruising speed you need.

Here’s a helpful video that can sum up some of the ways to save gas when you drive.

Conclusion

Given the 10 driving tips that will save you gas money mentioned above, we hope that you can save gas on your next trip out.

You can improve gas mileage and save money by taking the time to ensure your driving is efficient and your car has been maintained.

When to Replace Brake Drum Pads/Shoes [How to Know]

When To Replace Pads

When I was a teen I had a Ford Elite. I changed the front brakes on my car. I started to hear a whining noise every time I applied the brakes so I knew something was wrong. I was relieved to find out that my brakes were supposed to make that sound and weren’t ruining my rotors (discs).

Drum brake pads typically last about 35,000 – 45,000 miles and may last up to 100,000. If you commute daily get them inspected every 6 months. You should replace them or get them checked when:

  • Your braking starts taking longer
  • You hear a whining or scrapping sound from the brakes
  • Your car starts to vibrate when braking
  • Your brake pedal or hand brake feels loose
  • When you or a mechanic inspects them and they are 1/16 of an inch thin

Checking to see if the drum brakes need replacing (also called shoes) can be done at home or by a mechanic. If you don’t have experience working on cars or the right tools then a mechanic would be best. If you want to do it yourself ensure you have time, patience, and the right tools.

Checking the Drum Brake Pads

Before you do anything it is best to find out if your brakes need replacing or if there are other problems causing the brakes to act strangely.

Checking the brake drum pads shouldn’t be too hard. It requires you to take off the wheel and the brake drum.

You’ll need to have:

  • Jacks stands
  • Floor Jack
  • Tire Chocks
  • Possibly a Hammer

You can watch this video for more details about how to safely remove the tire and brake drum.

Once your tire and brake drum are off you will be able to check your brake pad thickness. If they measure more than 1/4 inch thickness then they are still good. Once they reach 1/8 of an inch it’s probably best to replace them even if they could go down to 1/16 of an inch.

If you decide that you want to try replacing your own drum brake pads, then you will need to make sure you have all the time, equipment, tools, and parts you need before you begin. Otherwise, you could be stuck without a car for a while.

Tools You Need to Replace Drum Brakes

ADAD

First, you’ll need to have:

  • A jack that can jack up your car and hold it up safely.
  • Have the rear axle supported by jack stands.
  • Use wheel stoppers on the front wheels.

Then make sure you have:

  • A lug nut removal tool to remove the tire.
  • A drum brake tool set (May be able to use other tools – see video below).
  • An adjustable wrench.
  • A metal wire brush.
  • Aerosol brake cleaner
  • New brake pads
  • New brake Drums
  • Springs
  • Repair manual
  • Safety Glasses
  • Gloves
  • Cleaning Supplies (rags)

Plan a Day and Time to Replace the Drum Brakes

In general, it should take 2 hours to replace both drum brakes if you have everything ready.

To get ready you will need to:

  • Watch a video or two about how to about replace the drum brakes and have an owner’s manual to use as a reference. (See Video Below)
  • Plan for a sunny day. You can do the job in your garage, but outside will likely give you better light and more room.

Watch this video to see the full drum brake replacement steps that need to be taken. It’s a great resource to use to help with your job.

Get Everything Ready for Brake Repair

Take a Photo

Layout your tools and take at least one picture of the drum brake before you start taking it apart.

  • Take a picture of the drum brake layout and print it if needed. This will help ensure you set up the new brakes the same way. (You could also video taking out the old brakes)
  • Layout all the tools you’ll need.
  • Layout all the parts you’ll need.
  • Wear Safety Glasses.
  • Get Started

STEP 1: PREPARATION OF THE VEHICLE

  • Park your car on a level surface and use wheel blocks on the front tires to stop any movement.
  •  Loosen the lug nuts on your back wheels, but don’t take them off.
  • Use a jack to lift the rear of the car.
  • Place jack stands under the rear axle (see video) or areas indicated on your repair manual.
  • Make sure the car is secure.
  • Remove the lug nuts and remove one wheel. Now you can start to replace your drum brakes.

STEP 2: REMOVE THE BRAKE SHOES

  • Clean the inner assembly such as springs, shoes, and car cylinder, drain out the brake oil onto a pan and spray the entire assembly with brake cleaner to remove the entire dust particles; otherwise, the dust may cause uneven wear and noise.
  • Measure the thickness of the old shoes with a digital micrometer and change them if the thickness is less than 1/16th. Make a thorough check for cracking, scoring, or grooving, and check the wheel cylinders. If the brake fluid is leaking, replace it.
  • By using needle-nose pliers, remove the shoe retaining springs. If you loosen the top spring, it will loosen the overall tension, and you can easily remove the lower springs. If the shoes are tensioned with pins and washers, pull them free by using needle nose pliers
  • Check for any leakage and if found, replace the brake wheel cylinders, immediately. Next, go in for reassembly.
  • Remove the retainer clip of the parking brake cable by twisting it with a pair of pliers or by prying with a flat- head screwdriver.
  • Remove the brake shoes to expose the brake drum. Remove the brake drum back and forth for removing it from the hub. If required, put more force.

STEP 3: INSTALL THE NEW DRUM AND SHOES

  • Clean the baking plate by lubricating it. After that, apply brake lubricant to the anchor of the pin, bosses, and the lever pivot surface of the parking brake actuating lever.
  • Slide the pin through the replaced shoe and install the new shoe into it. Then reinstall the brake retaining clip.
  • The next step is to install the adjusting screw assembly and the spring.
  • Reinstall the new brake shoes onto the hub. Put it secured in its place using washers and pins.
  • After the shoe brake is kept secured in its place, reinstall the tension springs in their reverse order. Now the entire drum brake assembly is reassembled.
  • You are now to install the springs and the hold-down pins and then the return pins.
  • With a screwdriver, make adjustments to the brakes so that its shoes expand.

STEP 4: INSTALLATION OF DRUMS AND REPLACEMENT OF WHEEL

INSTALLATION OF DRUMS AND REPLACEMENT OF WHEEL

  • Before installing the drum, spray it with brake cleaner so as to remove any film coated on it.
  • Slip the drum over the brake shoes and put it on the hub, by adjusting the shoes, if required.
  • For the final adjustment of the brake drum, ensure that it is neither loose nor tightened, as otherwise, it may damage both the drums and the shoes. You can find the brake adjuster inside the hub.
  • After putting the while and tire in their places, tighten the lug nuts.
  • After jacking up the car, remove the jack and the stand.
  • After removing the wheel chocks, torque the wheel lug as specified in the owner’s manual
  • Repeat the same steps for the other rear wheel.
  • Check the brakes by applying a hydraulic pressure on the brake pedal.

Now that you are conversant with the replacement of drum brakes, it is pertinent for you to be aware of the utilities and advantages of the best brake controllers. These are especially beneficial for towing a vehicle. The brake controller is an external device, installed on the dash of the vehicle that is towing another vehicle. When the driver of the towing vehicle applies the brake, a message is electronically transmitted to the brakes of the towed vehicle that it must stop.

When the towing vehicle applies the brake, the towed vehicle continues to move at the same velocity and causes a domino effect which is a great threat to the safety of both vehicles. There are two kinds of brake controllers. The Time-delayed one applies a pre-determined pressure on the brakes of the towed vehicle. The second category is called Proportional and is comparatively cheaper.

According to your budget and need, you can opt for any one of the following well-performing brake controllers:

  • Reese Towpower 850711; Brakeman
  • Tekonsha 90885, Prodigy
  • Hopkins 47284, Reliance
  • Tekonsha 90195 P3
  • Draw-Tite 201911-Stop

If you are a conscious vehicle owner, you know how essential it is to use quality brake fluid. It makes the brakes of your vehicle operate perfectly and thus provide absolute safety, while you are driving your vehicle. When you apply the brake, heat is generated. If your brake components are overheated, there is every possibility of brake failure. Brake fluid prevents overheating. Other functions of brake fluid are it keeps the moving parts perfectly lubricated and protects them from corrosion. It reduces the wear and tear of the moving components.

There are mainly three types of brake fluids. They are:

  • DOT 3 is Glycol-based that attracts water and has the lowest boiling point.
  • DOT 4 too is Glycol-based but has a little higher boiling point.
  • DOT 5 is silicon-based and does not attract water. It has a higher boiling point.

You can choose the best brake fluid out of the following:

  • Prestone AS 400 which is DOT 3 type
  • ATE 706202 TYP 200 which is DOT 4 type
  • Motul RBF 600 which is DOT 4 type

The brake is the life-saving component of your vehicle. You should know to replace the drum brakes as a professional. Never compromise on price when it comes to the use of brake fluid. If you are vehicle uses trailers, it will be your prudent decision to make use of a brake controller.
