The Chevrolet Traverse is a crossover SUV built by GM and came out as a debut in 2009. It is a successor to the Chevrolet TrailBlazer and Chevrolet Uplander. 1. Seat Issues

2. Transmission Fault


The models that have 6-speed automatic transmission have been reported to have a broken 35R clutch wave plate inside the transmission.


Difficulty in applying reverse gear, slip during a reverse gear shift, illumination of the Check Engine Light (CEL), which is an indication of a faulty transmission.


Removal and replacement of the broken 35R clutch plate in the transmission is highly recommended. It is also very important to remove and clean the debris from the failed 35R clutch plate while cleaning the transmission to avoid any other failure occurrences in the future.

3. Defect in the Windshield Wiper Motor

GM has announced that the 2016 model of Chevrolet Traverse, which was manufactured between 18th August 2015 and 24th September 2015, has been identified to have a manufacturing defect in the windshield wiper motor.


The manufacturing defect is supposed to cause the wiper motor to overheat, which increases the risk of fire with use.


GM has sent a notification to the owners and dealers who have made a purchase of the concerned vehicles. The technicians would replace the wiper motor assembly cover free of cost (FOC). The owners are requested not to use the wipers until then. Due to weather conditions, if the users cannot avoid the usage of windshield wiper blades, then GM’s technicians will offer a home service.

4. Liftgate Closes without Notice

The rear door of the car or liftgate can drop off suddenly from the open position, because of the strut’s failure that supports the liftgate.


A person who is in the process of arranging things inside or taking things from the trunk of the car might be injured or stuck if the liftgate closes suddenly without notice.


Once you raise a complaint to a registered dealer, the technicians will update and correct the liftgate actuator MCU software in order to avoid the quick closing of the rear door. This would be done free of charge.

5. Buckle Failure of Front Seatbelts

7. Front Seat Airbag Inflation Problem

The washer module, which is under the hood, could become overheated due to excessive withdrawal of power.
