1. Seat Issues
The 2016 model of Traverse manufactured between 6th November 2015 and 12th November 2015 have been reported to have improper welding and misalignment of left lower seat of the third row by GM.
During the incident of a crash, an improperly aligned seat can cause the individual who is seated there to be subjected to a high risk of severe injury.

Difficulty to apply reverse gear, slip during a reverse gear shift, illumination of the Check Engine Light (CEL), which is an indication of a faulty transmission.
Removal and replacement of the broken 35R clutch plate in the transmission is highly recommended. It is also very important to remove and clean the debris from the failed 35R clutch plate while cleaning the transmission, to avoid any other failure occurrences in the future.
3. Defect in the Windshield Wiper Motor
GM has announced that the 2016 model of Chevrolet Traverse, which was manufactured between 18th August 2015 and 24th September 2015 have been identified to have a manufacturing defect in the windshield wiper motor.
The manufacturing defect is supposed to cause overheating of the wiper motor, which increases the risk of fire with use.
GM has sent a notification to the owners and dealers who have made a purchase of the concerned vehicles. The technicians would replace the wiper motor assembly cover free of cost (FOC). The owners are requested not to use the wipers until then. Due to weather conditions, if the users cannot avoid the usage of windshield wiper blades, then GM’s technicians will offer a home service.
4. Liftgate Closes without Notice
The rear door of the car or liftgate can drop off suddenly from the open position, because of the strut's failure that supports the liftgate.
A person who is in the process of arranging things inside or taking things from the trunk of the car might be injured or stuck if the liftgate closes suddenly without notice.
Once you raise a complaint to a registered dealer, the technicians will update and correct the liftgate actuator MCU software in order to avoid the quick closing of the rear door. This would be done at a free of charge.
5. Buckle Failure of Front Seatbelts

Under certain circumstances, when the vehicle is parked on a slope and the transmission is not in the ‘park’ mode, and additionally, if the keys are left in the ignition itself, then there are chances for an accidental crash to occur. This is because of parking brake failure. The brake connector wire might not satisfy the standards of motor vehicle safety, thus causing a premature fracture in the connector. This is the reason for the failure.
The dealers will replace the parking brake connector cable free of charge, as it is a manufacturing problem.
